Jewel box update.

Who would have thought finding a screw to fit the mirror for this jewel box would prove so tricky. Eventually I found one that fits in but it's too long so will need to be cut down to size. After that all I will have to do is glue knob to the end of it.

Drop leaf storage table

I have wanted a new table for some time now. Our old one was wobbly and took up too much room. I was hoping I could find a cheap second hand drop leaf table but never seemed to see any :(. One day on pinterest I discovered ana white and her plans for making furniture.   http://ana-white.com/   I fell in love with one of her tables and managed to convince my husband to make it for me. I helped hold things and did the painting but the hard work was all him. I love how it came out.

Jewel box

Yesterday my mum gave me this old jewellery box that she got from a friend but didn't want.   It should have the mirror attached but one of the screws are missing.  . I'm going to paint it add a new knob and when the screw that I need comes attach the mirror.

Thursday's makes.

Yesterday I saw this cute little make your own candy jewellery set in semichem for £1

My youngest preferred just to sit and eat, and not actually make anything.

This afternoon we had our first attempt at making rainbow crayons

We grated and chopped.

Then we popped it all into throw away metal ashtrays (that I had picked up in pound land thinking they were mini pie dishes doh!!).

We put them in the oven for about 5 minutes at (If I remember right) 180 degrees.

We left them to cool and when we popped them out of ashtrays, they looked like this.

WORD OF WARNING

When I opened the oven the smell wasn't too good, so I had to open back door and stay out of the kitchen for a while.

Mini washboard

When we were on holiday to Italy we stayed in a caravan and ended up having to do some hand washing. I said to my husband what we would really need is a little washboard, When we got home I looked on eBay and you actually do get a mini washboard. I couldnt wait until next time we went on holiday to use so I dragged it out today to wash some socks.

Italy remembered.

Three weeks ago today I was very excited about going on my first holiday to Italy. We had great weather, some days the temperature in car was showing as 43 degrees.
The scenery was so pretty.
It was so warm we spent a lot of time cooling down in the pool
Can't wait to go back.

Princess and the pea - mollie makes magazine

I was naughty this year and got my birthday cards and money early, because we were going to Italy. One of the things I spend some of my money on was a mollie makes magazine, I don't buy them all the time because at £4.99 I find them a little bit expensive. Yesterday I dug out the magazine and decided to have a go at making the princess and the pea toy. Unfortunately I only had white felt and not skin coloured linen to make her body. My youngest daughter fell in love with her as soon as she saw her and has claimed her, at least she doesn't mind about her looking a little bit like a ghost. I still have more mattresses to make. I made the one in this picture by sewing fabric to a square of felt. I was gong to slightly stuff it but decided it was ok as it was.

Flower pot bench

My oh was going to the skp today and we had some wood he was going to throw out. I saw it and thought ooh that would make a good bench. So off he went into the garden to make one. We had a large piece of driftwood that we found a few years back and it had just been sitting in garden. He cut that in half for legs. Then he cut top part to right length. Then he just screwed them together. Really simple and quite sturdy.

Jubilee tea party

Today we had our jubilee tea party. We made cupcakes with butter icing mixed with some marshmallow fluff and to decorate the cupcakes I made some mini union flags with a free printable page and some cocktail sticks. The printable page of the flags can be found here http://paperspice.co.uk/2012/05/27/free-jubilee-printables/ Our decorated cupcakes tasted really nice.

Finished blocks

Just finished off my blocks. They only had home written on them which I thought made them look a bit bare

After

Before

I used various magazines for the patterns and I found the butterfly's scattered in a joe browns catalogue.

Quite pleases with Them. :)

Home blocks

While I was out shopping today I picked up these home blocks for £2.

When I took them out of box they only have writing on one side so I may have to stick pictures or something on them.

no idea where I am putting them because I am really running out of room.

Candle transfers

When I was out shopping yesterday I picked up a pack of candle transfers that were reduced to 50 pence. (I love reduced things).

They were really easy to use, just cut out the part you want to use and soak it for twenty seconds. Then gently peel it off the backing paper and place it where you would like it on the candle

Very easy and something I will try again especially if I find more of them reduced.

Moody Monday cupboard cleaning.

I opened my daughters toy cupboard today and was greeted by this

Never in my life have I seen such a complete and utter mess. It was one of those moments when I wished I had kim and aggie from how clean is your house to come and help.

There were bits of Lego everywhere random doll parts and lots of pieces of polly pocket etc.

Five hours ( yes that's right five hours for one bl@@dy cupboard) five black bags and it was finally tidy. I forgot to take an after picture and the kids have been alone upstairs for an hour, I'm too scared to look in it in case it looks the same again.

Slightly sleepy Sunday

After a busy morning doing Zumba express then Zumba toning I've had a very lazy afternoon. A while back I had downloaded a free copy of mollie makes on the newsstand of my iPad. I enjoyed reading it so much so yesterday I bought the valentines issue because I had fell in love with the crochet hand warmers on the cover.

http://molliemakes.themakingspot.com/magazine

I hopefully will get round to making the hand warmers but at the moment I am busy making granny squares for a lovely throw that is in this issue.

For a limited time there is one free issue on the newsstand of cross stitch collection, cross stitcher, crochet today, mollie makes, the knitter, knitting life, simply knitting and papercraft inspirations and probably more but these are the ones I know of.

The girls were busy today with the last baking packet mix.

Tesco brownie mix

Didn't have a square tin so had to make it in a round one. Ended up crumbly but very tasty and the kids scoffed quite a lot of it.

I like to move things

I really like to move things and it drives my husband crazy. When I feel the need for a change I move some things from one room to another.

My husband found me a large stone in the shape of a heart a few years back (I love heart shaped stones) it has been in living room and beside front door. In both these places it was standing up and I was terrified it would fall on someone's toes, especially one of the girls or a visiting child.

Today I decided it was going flat and I have put it in our bedroom.

It doesn't look as if the door will close but it does.

Next I had to move the vase of flowers that sat in the place the stone is now taking up.

I recently moved one of the flowers from bedroom into our bathroom

I have also stacked up hamper and hat box so I have room for both.

Wonder what I can move next!!
